December 2006 Newsletter

Curriculum Update
This month we will be focusing on feelings, safety, and the December holidays with a bit of Reindeer thrown in for some added funJ. We will also be preparing to start a calendar segment to our day. We will discuss the concepts of time in relation to days, weeks, months, and years. “Calendar time” will officially begin Tuesday January 2nd on our first day back in 2007! Our letters this month are I and L, our color is blue and our shape is star.

In The Spirit of Giving
One of my goals for this upcoming holiday season is for the children to embrace it as a time to give. I want them to experience how good it feels to give and to really appreciate when they receive. I know this is a tall order in today’s times but I think it’s important to show the children that the feelings you get from giving can be better than any old toy carJ. Throughout the month we will be encouraging the children to make “presents” for their friends and family when they feel like doing something nice. We will also do a grab for our holiday party which will be on Friday Dec 22nd. I will have the names available to grab on this Thursday.

Holiday Party
Friday December 22nd we will have a holiday party. The day will be filled with games, holiday music, festive foods, and gift exchange. This day will also be an official Pajama Day!

General Housekeeping
Thank you very much to those of you who sign in, I really appreciate itJ. Those of you who don’t, I’ll try to remind you. LOL
It looks like we have enough snowsuits and boots in house for each of the kids. If your child wears his/her boots to school; great, but if not; don’t worry about bringing them.

Dates to remember:

December 22nd Holiday Party/Pajama Day
December 25th – closed
January 1st – closed
