It’s been another great week here at Tiny Treasures! The weather was mostly good and we had some very active outdoor time enjoying our new football and hunting for worms
The kids had mixed feelings about the sensory experience of feeling the inside of the pumpkin, some loved it while others didn’t even want to go near it
Interestingly, the same kids that enjoyed the feel of the pumpkin were the same kids that enjoyed stuffing our scarecrows with wet leaves. It appears that all of them truly enjoyed our time at the pumpkin patch as did the adults
Enjoy the pictures here!

Miss Rachel was never really happy with how the pictures were presented. At first she had to do a lot of work to get them up. That’s why we changed over to the flickr method you are now used to. It saved Miss Rachel a lot of time, but she still didn’t care for the presentation. I found some new software that outputs the pictures exactly how she wants them, and she is very pleased with the results. I am also running the web server side of the pictures here at home, so she does not have to do a ton of work to get them up. The downside is it is not integrated to the current web site, so each week she will post a link to the latest picture set.
The authentication to see the pictures has also moved. You no longer have to log into this site. When you click on the pictures link a pop up box will appear asking for a user name and password. This should be the same user name and password you are using now. Check the box to “remember me” and you shouldn’t have to put in the password again.
The page you go to requires flash from adobe. Most systems should have it already, if yours doesn’t the page will prompt you to install it. It is safe to do so. You can navigate the pictures by clicking on the right side or left side of the picture itself to go left or right, use the arrow keys on your keyboard, scroll your mouse wheel up and down, or click on the thumbnail on the right hand side. The pictures should load much quicker and be easier than ever to see.
If there is a picture you want to save, right click on it and select “Open Image in a New Window“, this will pop it open in a new window. You can then right click, save image as… or go to file > save page as… to save it locally. If you want a larger copy, ask Miss Rachel and she can email it to you.
If you have any questions, please ask if you see me, message us through the contact form tab above, or email me directly at:

Curriculum Update
This is going to be a very fun month. Our themes include Fall and all the changes that take place in our environment during this time and how that affects us. It is also Fire Safety month which gives us the opportunity to learn about fire and firefighters. At some point during this month we will get up close and personal with our local heroes. Our color is Orange, our shape is Triangle and our letters are A and F.
Orange Day will be Friday October 12th (please have the kids wear orange clothes)
Pumpkin Picking
We will be continuing our tradition of going to the pumpkin patch in Holbrook again this year. The kids have a great time and get to pick a pumpkin to take home
. In the past we have gone on a Friday and walked on our own to the patch but this year I will be looking into booking a scheduled field trip so we can get a hay ride too
As soon as I know the date, I will be asking for parent volunteers to accompany us.
Halloween Party
We will be having our annual Halloween Party on Wednesday October 31st. Children should be sent to school that day with their costume in a bag. We will only be wearing them when we go Trick or Treating next door.
Upcoming Holidays and Vacation Time
We will be closed Monday October 8th for Columbus Day & Monday November 12th for Veteran’s Day
We are also closed November 22nd & 23rd for Thanksgiving
Vacation Week is December 24th through January 1st . We will be taking the Monday before New years to make up for missing Yom Kippur this year.
